Symptoms of Anxiety

Anxiety can manifest in a variety of ways, and symptoms can differ from person to person.

Common emotional symptoms include persistent worry or fear, feelings of restlessness or being on edge, difficulty concentrating, and irritability.

Physical symptoms may involve increased heart rate or palpitations, sweating, trembling or shaking, shortness of breath, nausea or gastrointestinal issues, fatigue or difficulty sleeping, and muscle tension.

Behavioral symptoms often include avoidance of situations that trigger anxiety, difficulty with daily tasks or responsibilities, and social withdrawal. If you're experiencing any of these signs, it may be beneficial to speak with a mental health professional who can assess your situation and recommend appropriate treatment options, which could include therapy, medication, or lifestyle changes.  Please be aware that we do not prescribe medications but if you are interested in exploring this option, reach out to us to find out what psychatrists we would recommend.

Need Help with Your Anxiety?

It’s important to consider seeking help if you experience chronic symptoms, if anxiety interferes with your daily life, or if you have significant physical symptoms or health concerns related to anxiety. If you find it hard to manage anxiety on your own or feel overwhelmed by it, or if you are using alcohol or drugs to cope, professional help is advisable. Additionally, thoughts of self-harm or suicide are critical indicators that immediate assistance is necessary.
